When Peter described Jesus to those gathered at Cornelius' house he said, "God anointed Jesus with the Holy Spirit and with power and He went around doing good, healing all who were oppressed by the devil." Acts 10:38
When John concluded his summary about the life and ministry of Jesus, he finished with this statement, "Jesus did many other things. If every one of them were written down, I suppose that even the whole world would not have room for the books that would be written." John 21:25
At the start of His own public ministry Jesus declared:
God's Spirit is on me;
he's chosen me to preach the Message of good news to the poor,
Sent me to announce pardon to prisoners and
recovery of sight to the blind,
To set the burdened and battered free,
to announce, "This is God's year to act!" Luke 4:18-19
Jesus didn't just bring a message of hope, He brought a move of the Spirit. A move that impacted people socially, emotionally, financially, physically, relationally and spiritually. The Gospel is not a bandaid solution; it is rather, "the power of God that brings Salvation to everyone who believes". Romans 1:16
As we draw closer to Easter, who or what is your trust in as we navigate through these uncharted waters?
