Parents, have you ever lost your child? Do you remember the feeling? One minute they are there right by our side, the next they're gone... so young, so vulnerable, so defenceless. Do you remember how your gut churned and your mind raced? Nine times out of ten it's not because of negligence, these things just happen. Right?
But what about God? He intentionally gave up His Son. Not only did He give Him up, but He watched on as He was subject to the most brutal torture and eventual death. Why? Because He loves me.
On this side of eternity I don't think I'm ever going to get my head around it! It's unfathomable... He loves me so much that He was willing to do what I could not. He paid the price that I could not pay so that my sin can be forgiven... Selah (pause and think about that).
"For this is how God loved the world; He gave His one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life. God did not send His Son into the world to judge the world, but to save the world through Him." John 3:16-17
